What you will see
Parque de Cabecera opened in July 2004 and covers 167,869 square metres. Its three main features are the Colina Mirador, a high point from which to see the whole park; the Bosque de Ribera, which links the terrestrial and aquatic environments; and Bioparc, whose reception area is located in the park.
The vegetation is dominated by riparian and Mediterranean species: ash trees (Fraxinus angustifolia), black poplars (Populus nigra), white poplars (Populus alba), stone pines (Pinus pinea and Pinus halepensis), mastic (Pistacia lentiscus), jacarandas (Jacaranda mimosifolia) and tipu trees (Tipuana tipu), as well as African acacias and carob trees.
Facilities include an open-air auditorium, a boat-hire pier, a bar, two children's play areas and the restored Molí del Sol building. There are three marked routes through it:
- Senda de La Ribera: 1,375 metres, about 20 minutes.
- Paseo del Molí del Sol: 1,758 metres, about 30 minutes.
- Recorrido por la Colina Mirador: 782 metres, about 15 minutes.
