What you will see
The Santos Juanes is one of the oldest parishes in Valencia: it was built in the 13th century on the site of a mosque and an Islamic cemetery, and has undergone several reconstructions since then. Inside, the Gothic structure mixes with Baroque decoration that once crowned the frescoes by Antonio Palomino. Much of those paintings were lost in the 1936 fire, and the church was restored a few years ago with funds from the Hortensia Herrero Foundation.
The visit includes an audioguide in seven languages and Barroc, an immersive experience with videomapping that virtually reconstructs the lost paintings of the apse without touching the building. Each session lasts around 20 minutes.
How much it costs

- Panoramic guided tour, 90 minutes: €22.00, Friday afternoons, in Spanish and English.

Opening hours
From October to June it opens Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:30 to 18:30, and Saturday from 09:30 to 18:00. Wednesday and Sunday open only in the afternoon, from 13:30 to 19:00. In July and September opening hours are 10:00 to 19:00 (Wednesday and Sunday, also from 13:30), and in August it opens Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00 and Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00. Last entry is one hour before closing and opening hours may change if there are religious services.
How to get there
It is in the Mercat plaza, in the centre of Ciutat Vella, directly opposite the Mercat Central and next to the Lonja de la Seda (the old silk exchange). It is reachable on foot in a few minutes from the Ayuntamiento plaza or from the Virgen plaza.
How long you need and when to go
- Barroc sessions start every hour, on the hour and half past (from October to June, the last one at 17:30). We recommend arriving a few minutes before the session you want to see.
- Weekdays there is mass at 12:00 in the Comunión chapel, so the visit overlaps with worship at that time.
- If you are also going to see San Nicolás, which is a few minutes' walk away, the combined entry includes both churches and the Hortensia Herrero museum.
