Self-guided tour of Valencia by mobile

What you will see

This is a self-guided route through central Valencia that you follow on your mobile using the DareMapp app. The phone locates you by GPS and when you reach each point, you activate the audio and a small challenge or question about what is in front of you. It covers 15 stops:

• Plaça de l'Ajuntament (town hall square), Mercat Central (central market) and Lonja de la Seda (old silk exchange).
• Iglesia de Santa Catalina (church), Plaza Redonda (round square) and Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas (palace).
• San Juan del Hospital (church), the Cathedral and Puerta de los Apóstoles (gate), where the Tribunal de las Aguas (Water Court) meets.
• Plaza de la Virgen with the Basílica de los Desamparados (basilica), the Roman remains at la Almoina and Palacio de la Generalitat (regional government palace).
• Portal de la Valldigna (gate), Torres de Serranos (towers) and Jardín del Turia (Turia Garden).

Cost

It costs €5.00. When you buy, you receive a code that unlocks the route in the app, and access does not expire, so you can do it whenever you like or repeat it. The app downloads free on iOS and Android.

Opening hours

There are no set hours: because you do it on your own account, you start when you like and can pause and resume it. If you want to enter any of the monuments on the route, each one has its own opening hours and entrance fee, which are not included.

How to get there

All stops are in Ciutat Vella and the route is done on foot. The app list starts at Plaça de l'Ajuntament, which is served by a large part of the EMT bus network and close to Xàtiva metro station.

How much time you need and when to go

• Between 2 and 4 hours, depending on how long you spend at each place.
• You need internet connection during the route; according to DareMapp, the purchase includes a gift eSIM with 2 GB of data.
• It is available in Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Italian and German.
• We recommend you carry a charged battery: GPS and audio use power.
